mystoryis ! ava brianne mellark was born an only child to emelia and simon mellark, who had always wanted more children but sadly it wasn't in the cards for them. because of this, they doted on ava, giving her anything and everything she wanted.
growing up, ava had one best friend, who went by the name of gina. she was the closest thing to a sister that ava had, and ava's parents treated her like their own daughter, even though she had two of her own parents. in high school, ava had three people whom she considered to be close to. gina - of course. ava's cousin and gina's boyfriend henry, and noah. gina had always hinted to ava that noah was crushing on her, but she'd always brushed it off. they were friends, of course he didn't feel anything like that towards her.
but apparently he did, and told her so at a party that the four of them were at in the wood. even though gina had hinted at it, she'd never really believed it until now. she didn't take it too well, blowing up in his face about waiting until the last minute and walking away, back to the party for the rest of the night. the music was so loud that she didn't even hear the gunshot that killed her best friend. when she did finally hear the news, she was devastated - along with henry since he'd been dating her at the time. no one knows what happened to gina, only that she was murdered. noah left town soon after that and ava pushed him to the back of her mind, focusing on college and her job once she graduated.
